March 1973, Fantastic Four #132, Page #28 Splash, End Page, John Buscema pencils/Joe Sinnott inks, “Omega the Ultimate Enemy”, Historic issue of the Fantastic Four, where Crystal of the Inhumans chooses Quicksilver over Johnny Storm aka Human Torch. This was the eight issue of Fantastic Four I ever read off the stand back in 1973. It was an incredible storyline written by Roy Thomas, with the Inhumans guest starring in Fantastic Four. It was my introduction to the team, and I fell in love with Crystal who was having a romance with Johnny Storm. I thought her and Johnny were a match made in heaven. You can image my dismay when I read this issue and got to this incredible but heart-wrenching page, where she tells Johnny that she chose the old man Pietro aka Quicksilver as her man, over Johnny. I was devastated, stunned, and so disappointed. I could not understand her decision but I kept reading Fantastic Four anyway. I felt that Crystal would eventually come to her senses. But then I read FF #150, where Crystal actually married Quicksilver. and I had to finally accept her fate. Big John Buscema inked by Sinnott, both at the peak of their powers. Nuff said! Hey, it’s 48 years later, and I have finally got over Crystal's blunder and poor decision, which she made decades ago.
