November 1972, Captain America #155, Pages #5 & #6, Sal Buscema pencils/Frank McLaughlin inks, “The Incredible Origin of the other Captain America!”
These two glorious pages are part of the historic storyline, "Captain America--Hero Or Hoax?", written by Steve Englehart, and drawn by my favorite artist, Sal Buscema; the story arc started in Captain America #153, and reintroduced the 1950s Cap and Bucky in the current Captain America timeline!
Sharon is attacked by the fake Cap and Bucky on the beach! She realizes the man approaching her that looks just like Steve Rogers is not him, and tries to escape. As they catch up to her, the Falcon comes to the rescue – that bottom panel is engraved in my psyche forever, ever since I read the comic off the newsstand back in 1972.
A huge thank you to Colorodo Kid, who sold me back these two pages that we both coveted for years!
